Question by : What surround sound receivers would you recommend?
I am looking for some surround sound receivers with the ability to connect 5 speakers at least.
I dont know what surround sound receivers are good on the market and was hoping that somebody in here could help me find some good surround sound receivers.

My budget for the surround sound receivers that you find is around 300$ .

So what surround sound receivers would you recommend and why?

I’m going to get a Honda Fit. Preferrably the sport model. I want to up the sound system that comes stock but I don’t want anything to over the top that takes over a huge amount of space in the car either. Any good ideas?

I would say get two ten’s or one 12 for it and that wouldn’t take up too much space and it do what you need it for.

* must be at least 8 mpg better than his current vehicle, to justify it.
Note: his Current vehicle gets 18 mph City.
* must have MP3 Player + Good Surround Sound System.
* must have Climate Control. (set Temperature)
* No Leather Interior. (he says he doesn’t like that)
* must have a Bicycle Rack.
* must have an Automatic Transmission.
* must have a Comfortable, Spacious Interior for 4 people + Groceries.
* must have at least a 4 Cylinder Engine. (No Smart Car for him)
* must have 5 Star Safety Rating. (Anti-lock disc Brakes and Side Curtain Air bags) : for example.
* must have at least a 36 month minimum warranty, and is Reliable according to Consumer Reports.

* These are some of the things he wants, but all and all, the Price is the most important Criteria. Ideally, he would like to pay under $ 12k in Cash for it. However, with financing available — although, he wouldn’t feel comfortable with it, he could double that, depending.

Also, he says he likes the “Image” of the Toyota Prius, but “image” isn’t everything. He’d gladly be willing to save 50%, if given the choice between that image and something else with the same features and is Cheaper.

3 type R 12″ subs with 2 type R 6×9 speakers, or 1 15″ type R sub with 2 type R 6×9 speakers with a Alpine 300W VPower 4-Channel Amplifier. It’s not for metal so i’m not worried about bass lag. I’m a big fan of alpine so even if kicker or jl is better please refer to my two choices. It is a competition against 4 12″ type R and stock speakers from a older sunfire.

If your going to power the 12′s with the same amount of power as the 15, I would go with the one 15 because it saves money and the three 12′s are not going to be any louder.

i am making a wheelie bin sound system, im going to hook up an amp to a 12v car battery (somehow) and then speakers to the amp

If it’s a car sound system it should run off the 12 volt battery just fine. All you’d need is a master switch to make sure things are shut off. You also need to have enough battery capacity to run the sound system for as long as you want it to run. This will depend on the power rating of your system and how loud you play it. An easy method of charging the battery would be nice. A set of external connectors for this means you don’t have to dig the battery out for charging.
