Why would my Surround speakers for my tv only have 1 output that works?

Question by : Why would my Surround speakers for my tv only have 1 output that works?
I have this surround sound and out of all the speaker inputs in back, only 1 works. I checked all my speakers. The only other one that works is where the sub goes. Any ideas?

Why would surround sound play certain dvds and not play the sound a certain series of others?

Question by moore_micki: Why would surround sound play certain dvds and not play the sound a certain series of others?
I have a 2 sets of Scooby Doo dvds that my surround sound will not play the sound the picture is fine but the sound won’t play, its the only ones that i have found that don’t work- others dvds work fine. Why would the sound not work just for those dvds? Also the surround sound speakers won’t work with satellite, and the tv speakers won’t play with dvd only the surround sound speakers will.

Best answer:

Answer by MacG33k
The DVD’s surround sound encoding may not be compatible with the decoder in your receiver. As for the satellite, that is because it is in stereo, not in 5.1, 5.2, 7.1, 7.2, etc. The TV speakers don’t work because the audio is being fed through the receiver, not the TV.

Question by Nic C: What would be the best sound system for my car for the money?
I have a Pontiac G6 and I’m looking to put a sound system in it. I’m basically looking for the best possible, hardest hitting system for around $ 500. I was thinking a dual ported 12″ with enclosure box would work the best for the bass. Any suggestions for what kind of subs, amp, and deck would be the best value for the money?

Best answer:

Answer by IKarma
Depending where you live. i live in California, The prices might be different. but i bought an alpine MRP-500 amp for 209.99 @ bestbuy and you can get 2 kicker 12″s on sale for about 70 a piece and they hit good.

How would I use multiple optical inputs in my surround sound system?

Question by Ricardodude: How would I use multiple optical inputs in my surround sound system?
I’m thinking of getting a PS3 sometime in the future, mainly for Blu-ray. And I want to know how I will get surround sound out of it before I buy it.

I already have my 360 in the optical input of my sound system and my pc in the 6 ch direct input.

The only other input I have is digital coax, and I have no idea what that is used for…

So is there a switcher or something I could use to connect two optical inputs?

This question has already been resolved. check: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080219024909AA5WzFD
as far as the Digital Coaxial is concerned, it is used to send sound(just like the optical line) to a receiver.

What cable converter would i need to convert a PC audio output to a input for a multimedia sound system?

Question by leodude1: What cable converter would i need to convert a PC audio output to a input for a multimedia sound system?
I need it to convert to the red and white ones you use for a r and l audio.

Most PC’s use a stereo mini phone jack (mini, also known as 1/8″ or 3.5mm). So you need a breakout cable that has a stereo mini plug on one end, and separate red/white RCA plugs (also known as phono) on the other end.

Jacks are female, plugs are male, You need the cable to have males at both ends. Radio Shack will have what you need, but very likely so does Best Buy or Walmart. It should cost under $ 5 even for a 6′, so don’t let anyone talk you into those stupid gold-plated, corrosion-resistant, frequency-tuned, IEEE rated, blah blah expensive ones. They don’t do a thing except cost more.

Anyone know what kind of system would work best to plug an ipod into that will produce enough sound for 80?

Question by seiyalights: Anyone know what kind of system would work best to plug an ipod into that will produce enough sound for 80?
Our wedding is a little less then 3 weeks away. We are going to use our own ipod at the wedding, but have looked into many sound systems that let you plug your ipod in directly and most of those are around 10-15w. I need something a little stronger that will fill a room and satisfy 80 people.

Any suggestions? Any ideas on if I should just get a receiver and plug in speakers, some how making it to where my ipod can plug into the receiver? Forgive me, I know little on this subject, so any and all help will be welcomed!

Our ceremony is outside – and we’d like to be able to play our songs through a CD player (just for the ceremony part). I can burn a CD with the songs we want to use, but am having a hard time finding something that runs on batteries. Am I going to have to ask around for two different systems? Maybe something with batteries for the ceremony, and then something that plugs in for the reception? Or can I find a portable system with more then 15w speakers that runs on batteries? I’ve been asking family members and friends, and so far no one has anything we can borrow.

I’m not exactmy sure what price range you’re looking for, so instead I’ll link you to some cables and adapters that may help make your current system iPod-compatible.

Look for a loud, hi-quality system that has this kind of input on the back:

http://www.denon.de/site/datadir/dg/1_dg_eb_PMA1500AE_back.jpg

(The ones on the left in this picture. And there doesn’t need to be more than one set, but look for one white and one red beside each other.)
Then buy something like this:
