Surround Sound 5.1 System Yamaha?

Question by shatteredflames0: Surround Sound 5.1 System Yamaha?
I have a 5.1 Surround Sound System Made by Yamaha, When I play DVDs the volume of the music on the DVD is way louder than the speaking and can often strangle out the speaking if there is music at the same time… Is there something I can do to correct this?
It is an “all in one” It came with all the speakers and receiver. I used two large sony speakers I already had as the right front and left front speakers. I will try turning the other speakers down. TY! Any other suggestions would be great also :)

Best answer:

Answer by dannymot
Is it an all in one speaker and amp package?

The speaking comes through the centre speaker. So if you turn the other speakers down and the centre up that should help. That should be hidden somewhere in the settings.

What is the best series of Shure wireless handheld and lav microphones for use for a church sound system?

Question by : What is the best series of Shure wireless handheld and lav microphones for use for a church sound system?
Will need 4 receivers, 4 handheld microphones and 2 lavalier microphones that can be used in different combinations.

Best answer:

Answer by Daniel K
You will need a receiver for every mic so you will need 6 receivers. My church uses Shure PGX wireless mics – they run about $ 400-450 each system so 6 systems will cost about $ 2400. They work great and do not have any interference problems.

http://www.amazon.com/Shure-PGX24-Handheld-Wireless-System/dp/B0009GUORO/ref=sr_1_1?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1314611684&sr=1-1

http://www.amazon.com/Shure-PGX14-Lavalier-Wireless-System/dp/B0009E1YRA/ref=sr_1_1?s=musical-instruments&ie=UTF8&qid=1314611720&sr=1-1

People often ask for the BEST here at Yahoo Answers – if you really want the BEST Shure wireless system, they run around $ 3000 or more each – this is the mic you would see them use at the Grammys:

If your church can afford $ 18,000 for wireless mics, go for it (you did ask for the best).

Question by : Will 7.1 Surround sound system be able to play 7.1 audio file from a media player, or is it a media player fix?
I have a Freeagent GO media player and it won’t play 7.1 audio. My TV doesn’t seem to support 7.1. If I got a Surround sound system, would it work?

Best answer:

Answer by bbt91945
Keep in mind that the only 7.1 audio is from a Blu Ray disc movies. There are no other software with a 7.1 audio. It is mainly decoded in the DTS HD Master audio. TV does not decode any surround sound system. Only a 7.1 receiver can decode that material. Hope this will help you out.

How do I hook my surround sound system to a basic DVD player?

Question by limp noodle: How do I hook my surround sound system to a basic DVD player?
Right now, I have my surround sound system hooked up to my Xbox 360… but that doesn’t play my burned discs… but my really cheap DVD player reads them… how do I hook up the surround system to the DVD player, do I need a fancy cord? the Xbox came with the cord and all I had to do was plug it in, this is now getting way too complicated for me to figure out. any suggestions would be appreciated, and if you need me to elaborate…. tell me what you need to know.
it is a boston digital surround sound set and a panisonic DVD-S1 player.
where do I get these cables, radio shack?

Best answer:

Answer by Jim M
If you are just playing burned DVD’s, then you can connect RCA cables (red and white) from the output of the DVD player to the input of the receiver.

If you are looking for digital surround sound from movies, you will need a digital cable, coax or optical. If the DVD player is cheap, you might just have coax.

Radio Shack or any other electronic store will have av cables, you only need 2 connectors, red and white, not 3 (red, white and yellow).

Connect the red and white cables to the red and white of your the Audio out of your DVD player and the other end to the red and white on the dvd in on your receiver.

I wasn’t able to find boston digital, could the receiver be a Boston Acoustic, and if so what model #? if you still need help

Q&A: what kind of sound system do professional musicians use?

Question by danny b.: what kind of sound system do professional musicians use?
i really want to know what does professionals use for their sound system.

Best answer:

Answer by Terry G
A simple question but no simple answer.
It’s all a question of need.
The ability of the musicians, the type of show, the size of the venue, the style of music – the list goes on.
If I suggested “brand X” as a system for you it might not get anywhere near the result you need or want.
A professional sound engineer will have a selection of different amplifiers, speakers, cables and microphones to tailor to the specific situation.
In short there is no single configuration which can be used for every performance.

What stereo sound system should I buy for my room?

Question by : What stereo sound system should I buy for my room?
I want a stereo sound system for my bedroom and for a good price that has these features:
ipod dock, cd player, am/fm radio and a alarm clock feature preferably.
does anyone know any good stereo systems like this? i also want good sound quality but honestly i know nothing at all about sound systems or anything so i just want something that will play music and will continue to sound good after very excessive use. all suggestions are helpful!

Best answer:

Answer by mark_hensley@sbcglobal.net
The link below is a picture of what you described. The sound quality is what you are looking for in a bedroom with a small physical footprint. This unit has a down firing subwoofer, which I am not a big fan, but the unit can be elevated off a flat surface then the sound quality will be even richer. It is a stellar unit, very respectable pedigree.

Live sound and the sound system?

Question by Billy188: Live sound and the sound system?
Is there a difference between a live sound, whether it be a human voice or a car, and a recorded sound played through loud speakers? More specifically, are there any tangible scientifically distinguishable elements between the two?

Best answer:

Answer by Dvandom
Any speaker is going to have a limited range of frequencies it produces. Really good speakers cover the entire range that the human ear can pick up, and a little extra just in case. But most real sounds have bits and pieces that go outside our range of hearing, even the human voice.

So, if you analyze the full range of frequencies on a sound, you can generally tell if it cuts off at a certain limit, marking it as a recording. However, your analyzer has to have a broader range than the speakers, so it becomes a sort of arms race between the person faking the sound and the person trying to detect the fake.

If you’re doing this for a plot point in a story, you don’t really need to worry about the arms race aspect unless the person doing the faking expects to have to fool computer analysis. If they only expect to have to fool the human ear, odds are the speakers won’t go much past audible range.
