We have 8 headset microphones for a live puppet show. Can you recommend a portable PA system with little interference/feedback?

Pretty much any portable PA with at least eight channels (probably 12 would be good) will work fine.

Feedback is reduced by setting up the system properly:

move the speakers as far away from the mics as possible and point the speakers towards the audience and away from the mics

make sure the people using the mics are speaking up and make sure the mics are close to the person’s mouth

turn down any unused mics if at all possible – every open mic causes the sound system to be closer to feeding back

I want a stereo sound system for my bedroom and for a good price that has these features:
ipod dock, cd player, am/fm radio and a alarm clock feature preferably.
does anyone know any good stereo systems like this? i also want good sound quality but honestly i know nothing at all about sound systems or anything so i just want something that will play music and will continue to sound good after very excessive use. all suggestions are helpful!

The link below is a picture of what you described. The sound quality is what you are looking for in a bedroom with a small physical footprint. This unit has a down firing subwoofer, which I am not a big fan, but the unit can be elevated off a flat surface then the sound quality will be even richer. It is a stellar unit, very respectable pedigree.

If you want something kick ass check out then panasonic range, yes they are more expensive but worth every dollar.

If your on a budget check out the LG range, they are also good value for money.

Serious question, not a troll thread.
Evolution is packaged & sold exactly like a religion now a days. It requires a faith to believe in it, with systems that no one has ever seen working. Yet ‘non believers’ are ridiculed, and silenced. This sounds exactly like a church to me..
In my experience people who advocate evolutionary theory quickly adopt this theory as irrefutable fact. For any science people want objective data, and see if the data fits the theory. With evolution however, all data is applied to the evolutionary theory as if it were a puzzle- praying some new piece fits.- At least half wits only please.

Engineer – I appreciate your enthusiasm, but those forms are examples of micro-evolution, and genetic adaptations. I didn’t come here to debate evolution. Respectable scientist everywhere concede that there is still not 1 example of an evolution. So please, don’t try to conform me. Besides I never said I didn’t accept the theory as a theory, I do.
I guess none of you guys are ‘in the loop’ leading researchers are starting to look at a hybrid creation-evolution theory. Since after a tireless effort they are no closer to identifying the mechanisms, or observing an actual evolution.

Heres an extremely short version of what you need to know. Might I add, this is knowledge in a nutshell!!

For TVs:
-Differences between Plasma/LCD and which is beneficial in different scenarios
-Know what 120hz processing is and what it does
-Know about contrast ratio and resolution
-Know which TVs have 120hz (Samsung 650, 750, 850, 950, Sony W and Z series and XBR, LG 60 and 70)
-Know facts about each brand of TV (Sony buys screens from Samsung, Samsung is the lead in LCDs, Sharp operated in Tokyo for 100 years, Pioneer is best for plasma and was first to market plasmas, etc)
-Know all about sources, so digital/HD cable, dvd, bluray etc
-Know everything about cables needed like HDMI, component video, composite AV, fiber optic, digital coax, coaxial, VGA
-Know how to hook up all these cables and how to use/hook up an AV receiver
-Know about the transition to Digital in February 2009

FOR AUDIO
-Know differences between 5.1, 6.1 and 7.1 systems
-Know what RMS vs max wattage is
-Know what %THD (total harmonic distortion) is
-Know which brands are the best (Klipsch is the best, Polk Audio, JBL, some Yamahas)
-Know about different features that come with HTiB (Home Theater in a Box) such as iPod compatibility, wireless speakers, neural sound
-Know how to piece together a sound system with different speakers like bookshelf/center/floor speakers (the best sound will come from this)
-Know how to connect to TV or AV receiver
-Familiarize yourself with Yamaha/Sony/Pioneer AV Receivers and features such as XM Radio, neural sound, equalization, speaker zoning, etc

None. Cars are very poor sound chambers, and too much deafens the occupant(s), annoys the public and destroys the car.

I have a 2006 Honda Civic hybrid and I need a sound system for it. I dont need a head unit, i don’t think. We have a nav. system in it, and i dont wanna mess with that. Everything on my car is stock. Money isnt really a problem, but it cant be too too expensive.

Probably a noob question but ill ask anyway. I have a 98 dodge dakota with 4 blown speakers. i want new ones but i also want to throw a sub in if possible. So what about the amplifiers? Do i need one of those as well? And how hard would all this be to wire in? Any recommendations on what i should get will be helpful. I’m on a slight budget as well, thanks.

Front Door: 6-3/4″
Behind Seat: 5-1/4″

all subs will need an amplifier because there is no radio that has the needed RMS wattage to properly power them
you will also need a box that is small enough to fit in your truck then you will need to find speakers that are a good match for the box after that you can look for an amplifier

info needed to PROPERLY match amps and subs
the subs voice coil setup (DVC or SVC)
the subs impedance (ohms)
the final impedance at the amp (how the subs are wired)
the number of subs
the subs RMS (continuous) wattage
or
the model numbers

when it comes to car audio nine times out of ten you get what you pay for- and you need to look for CEA-compliant brands which means that the amps have been tested and produce or exceed the advertised RMS wattage with minimum distortion and the subs can handle their advertised RMS wattage also (distortion is the main cause of speaker damage over time)
just because the amp says 300watts does not mean it really has 300watts and all you care about is the RMS wattage not the peak/max wattage http://www.ce.org/Standards/3108.asp
