I have a macbook and i just purchase a 5.1 Surround sound system how can i get all the system working?
i just purchase a 5.1 surround sound system, unfortunately my mac only has a hedphone jack so i can only use part of the system. I need to find some kind of solution like a external sound card so i can use my system. remember that it has to be mac compatible.

You might need a Griffin Firewave 5.1 adaptor as the plugs are 3x 3.5mm analog ends, but unfortunately the Firewave has been discontinued.
OR
You need a TOSLINK cable and a 3.5mm converter to make use of it. The device you are plugging into also has to be able to accept Optical Digital In.

I am not looking for a movie such as “Cars” or “300″, but just a pure sound test. Something like a bass check CD for a car. What I really want is the THX intro that is played at the movie theaters or the true dolby bass drop.

According to this thread, Terminator 2 Skynet Edition has a THX demo in DTS-Master Audio 96KHz, but I don’t know if it’s 7.1:

This is a really extensive list of demo discs, many are Blu-ray with 7.1 tracks. You can find many of them on eBay, if not directly from the manufacturer:

Separate mostly.

I can buy the equipment that has the features and specifications I need, plus can purchase/upgrade them as my budget allows and technology changes, purchased used equipment, plus even build some components myself.

I would buy an all-in-one system for the convenience or compactness, or portability.
