Question by Tara C: How do you install a sound system in a house so that music can be played in different rooms?
I am building a new house and I would like to install a system that is connected to my stereo but there is a control pannel in different rooms in the house so that music can be played there. For example, have the music playing downstairs in the rec room but not hearing the music in the kitchen.

There is a system called Crestron that allows you to do this. Its pretty pricey but is gaining popularity in the home theater market. You will also need a amplifier/receiver that allows there to be separate signals sent out from one unit. Without that, you would only have one source being played throughout the whole house. Those units can get pretty expensive buts its worth it. I wired my whole house and had a button on my receiver that would allow me to play my music stored on my computer throughout the whole house. This let me just hit play on the computer and not have to fool with CD’s or the radio. Also, put some audio outside. Nothing better than sitting on your porch while listening to some good music.
