Those home theater in a box are not very good or dependable at all. The tv is also a bargain price tv that is not dependable. You might notice video and audio lag time. Vizio brand is sold only at bargain price department store like Wal Mart, Target, Sam’s Club and Costco. If you read yahoo question you will notice that 95% of tv problems comes from bargain price tvs along with those home theater in a box. They are also not very flexible in adding anything to them and you can not upgrade later on. Keep in mind, you get what you pay for. Hope this will help you out.

Your best bet is to go to partsexpress.com they have home theater, (surround sound) systems that are much better and cheaper than anything you will find at a box store like Best Buy.

The two systems I would recommend are part # 300-694 or 300-696. These two systems give you 5 speakers and 1 subwoofer with built in amp. They DO NOT include a receiver. The receiver is what divides up the sound and amplifies it before sending it to the correct speakers. With your limited budget it will be very difficult to get a surround sound system worth buying.

What you can do is get a sound bar. A sound bar mounts below or above your TV. It combines the Left, Right and Center channel speakers into one. example at partsexpress is part # 300-684. This would make football games come alive. Football games rarely are recorded in surround sound. So a sound bar, like the one mentioned would be a good choice. Keep in mind this isn’t self powered. There is however, room in your budget for an amp to power the sound bar.

I think the best thing you can do is go to the partsexpress web site, find their help line # where you will be able to talk to very well informed technicians. They will know exactly what will work best for your application and their prices will beat anyone else. You can also read reviews from people who bought the item and see what they have to say.

I highly recommend not going to a box store, their products are always highly over priced and not that good. At partsexpress has quality products at a very reasonable price. Good luck,

Whatever you do, do not buy anything Bose sells. They are all advertising and have very weak and inacurate sound. Trust me when I say this. A Bose high end system is about $ 40 in parts and $ 2000 in advertising.
