surround sound speaker system just turns off if the volume gets turned up too high?

The volume isnt high enough to be thoroughly audible so this needs to be fixed. this is happening on my boats stereo system, and my friends surround sound system..
What do i do?

It seems to me that the surround sound unit is faultey and i would urge you to contact the brand or take it back to the place you got it from and get it replaced if you can.

It also might just be old and needs replacing.

My friend kindly gave me a SAMSUNG PSWS100E/P​SFS100E 5.1 Surround Speaker System.
but I have no idea how to set it up all i am looking at is connectors but don’t know what I need to connect them too. all I have is speakers do I need an additional control unit?

Yes you need a receiver for controlling that speaker system. I’m not familiar with it, but Samsung does make good video products, but their audio is sub-standard.
