Suround Sound

Just bought a sony bravia tv and was wanting to buy “sony DAV D Z230 Home cinema”. The only problem is that apparently it will not give full surround sound (only front speakers will work) on “normal” tv, only when playing a DVD does it use all six speakers. I was just wondering if i bought a HDMI cable would it work fully then on “normal” tv? Iv tried talking to ppl in shops such as comet & currys but ofcourse they just want to make a sale lol so if anyone can help it would be gratefully appreciated.

I just got a surround sound system (logitech z-5500) for christmas. I got it to plug into my Macbook which only has one audio output. Is there anything i could buy to enhance the sound coming out of the Macbook. Could I have the output of the Macbook go to a receiver then to the speakers? WHAT???

The ‘receiver’ (surround processor and amplifiers to driver the speakers) is a built-in part of this logitech system, so you probably can’t conveniently use the speakers with another receiver.

What you can do is use the digital output of your macbook (if it’s got one, mine does, check to make sure) instead of the analog output. This should help a lot. Apple puts the digital output through the same jack on the macbook, but you will need an optical toslink cable, with a mini-adaptor on the mac end so it fits in the headphone jack.

This would be a major upgrade!

don’t u mean 360 to the sound if so white and red cable audio output from 360 to audio input white and red cable on your suround sound
