Question by Gengras Motorcars: I have an elaborate 7.1 surround system. How can I get it to sound like the ones I see in the stores?
I have a Denon receiver and all monster wires. HD going to the receiver from the DVD and to the TV. Klipsch speakers in the front, polk audio for my rears and dipole/bipole sides. I can’t seem to get the system to sound like the ones in the stores. Oh, also, I have a pre amped 10inch sub facing a corner about 6 inches away from the wall. (That also hums all the time… very annoying and I have tried different outlets.) Is there a product out there that tests the sound fields that is inexpensive?

ok well iam a home audio video installer for a high end private store and first off that humming is probally electrical interference try seperating all your power wires get then away from all the signal wires that would be the best thing first off. and very few things have true 7.1 support, what you system more then likely does is just send those side speakers a signal that comes from either the fronts or rears and just dims the sound a bit…and we have a 7.1 system set up in our store and we go out and search for a 7.1 dvds or we order them from people who make test dvds so they have every thing from 2.1 to 9.2 and usually the things on those dvds are just scenes from movies that have been remastered into what ever sound they need. and they are hard to find… 7.1 and above is mostly useless for the next couple of years.. i would have spent my money on better speakers…i would get rid of the 2 sides and since you got a denon you should be able to turn those 2 speakers into a zone 2 so you can put speakers outside or different room…
