I have the logitech X-540 and i want to know the best placement for a 5.1 sourround sound syatem.

Thats not a surround sound system – that is a set of computer speakers designed for a single person sitting at a desk.
(sigh)
But the principle of all of them is the same:
- Center speaker above/below the monitor.
- Left/Right speakers about 30 degrees out from the center.
- Left Rear/ Right Rear opposite to the fronts (draw a line from the fronts through the central seat)
- Subwoofer: You would normally corner-load the sub by placing it 1/3 in from the corner of a room. But those computer speakers dont have enough wire (because they were not designed for whole-room use) so just put it near the central seat.
Ideally the tweeters on all the speakers are at the same height.
Then you level adjust the volume so test tones have the same volume as they move around the speakers. This compensates for sitting at different distances to each speaker.
