Question by Roger: I have a sharp tv and a sony surround sound system but have a problem?
OK I can get the sound to come out of my surround system using its dvd and the picture to come out my tv. I am doing this with red whit and yellow wires but I can not seem to get my cable tv sound to come out of the surround sound please tell me why

I think the cable box has a setting to output sound via rca. But you can connect the cable box to the tv, then run the rca from tv to the dvd receiver. if the dvd system doesnt have rca input connections than you can’t use it.

I have a sharp aquos LC-46LE810UN to a surround sound system? It doesn’t work thru the digital optical output, nor the 3.5mm jack…do I have any options?

It should work through the optical. That’s why the optical output is there!!
If your surround has coax instead of optical, then you need a simple optical-to-coax adapter.
