Samsung Dvd Surround Sound System

Q&A: We have a Sony blue ray and a Samsung surround sound system with a DVD player, we also have a projector…?

Question by shonay: We have a Sony blue ray and a Samsung surround sound system with a DVD player, we also have a projector…?
We can play DVD’s with all speakers working on the DVD player that is part of the surround sound system, but we cannot get sound from the rear speakers when using the blue ray and projector… any thoughts?

Well the projector probably has nothing to do with it since your blu ray should be connecting to your A/V receiver. Make sure you setup the blu-ray player for surround sound first. Then make sure you are using a digital optical/coaxial connection or an hdmi connection capable of sound.

I imagine your problem is one of three problems

Wrong audio settings on the Blu Ray player(should be 5.1 and match your audio output.

Wrong cables(If you are using the red and white connectors you will need to use a different connection for surround sound.

Wrong receiver sound setting. (should be dolby, neo, or dts)

Problem with Samsung Surround Sound w/ DVD system?

Question by : Problem with Samsung Surround Sound w/ DVD system?
My Samsung Surround System (with DVD player) has a problem.
When I switch it on, it works perfectly for like 5 minutes, then the rear speakers disconnect, and on the DVD player the words ‘ REAR CHK’ blink. This is happening all the time. It hasn’t been from forever, just I stopped using it for a while because it was happening, because i didn’t really need it, but I want to start using it again. Also, only the audio is plugged to the TV, I don’t watch DVDs on it, so the video isn’t plugged in, and maybe that’s why I can’t ever see the menu when I press the menu button on the remote, but I’m not sure. I’ve had the system for about 3-4 years now, and this ha been happening for I think the last 1 & a 1/2 year
How do I stop the rear speakers from disconnecting after 5 minutes?

just a guess,
a lot of amplifiers have thermal overloads that will kick out if their is too much energy being drawn. my suggestion is to check all your connections, make sure they are tight and with no corrosion. check the wires to make sure the cat hasn’t been chewing on them. if the speakers/speaker is drawing too much power that can kick it out as well. lots of different things could be happening including the possibility the the rear channel is simply beginning to fail. good luck!

Check the set up menu on the dvd when it first starts. There’s a menu on all dvd’s where it says “audio setup”. Click on that and be sure English 5.1 is selected.

Response: Maybe your laser light inside the dvd player is getting old and not tracking properly?
