Question by Steven K: Connecting a PC to a surround sound system?
I have a Panasonic surround sound system, which is not a PC specific system.
Could you please tell me how you would usually connect a PC to a system such as this, so far I can only get output from 2 speakers.
My soundcard has has one digital output 3.5mm port, and three 3.5mm analogue ports, and the sound system has left and right RCA ports, as well as a Digital In toslink port.

OK, you’ve connected the digital out from your computer’s sound card to the digital in to your surround system:
first, check the settings on your surround system:
you may have it set for [stereo] as opposed to [surround] or [stereo X2] – i have a logitech z-5500 digital system and that was the case when i first set it up.
if that isn’t the source of the dilemma, check your sound card:
it may have ambient settings that would prevent the output of a surround signal. i encountered this with the realtek audio software that came bundled with my sound card. i had to turn off all of the “sound stages” and “enhancements” to get regular output.
i hope that solves your problem.. other than that, without the model # of what panasonic system you are using & some more sound card info, i can’t help further.
