Patio Sound System

Q&A: Outdoor Sound System?

Question by cincysahm4: Outdoor Sound System?
We’re in the process of screening in our deck and would like to add an outdoor sound system. We are technically challenged. For instance, I have downloaded music for my MP3 player, but have no idea how to burn a CD. LOL :) Anyway, we’d like to have outdoor speakers and some type of very simple muti-disk CD Player that can read CD’s that we burn or buy, to play for our everyday use and for when we entertain. Can anyone make specific recommendations for reasonably priced CD player, outdor speakers (with decent sound), volume control options, software needed to burn CD’s, remote or no remote, etc.? We’re already spending a ton on the screen porch, paver patio, outdoor lighting, patio furniture, landscapting, etc., so we just can’t spend a lot of money. Plus, this will NOT be our last home, so I want it to be nice, but I don’t want it to break the bank considering we’ll probably be leaving the speakers for the next homeowners. I just want a simple/basic system. Thanks.

My best suggestion would be to go to outdoor world or go to their web site. You will want a system made for outdoors so the humidity will not bother it.

How do I integrate and install wireless speakers onto a patio to use with my existing home surround sound?

Question by : How do I integrate and install wireless speakers onto a patio to use with my existing home surround sound?
The patio is 25 yards away from the house, and I have a small wifi connection from that location when I tested it. The download strength from speedtest.net was .46mbps. The current system is a Denon AVR-3803. What is the best way to add the wireless speakers, and can I control the whole sound system with an ipad? Thanks

First you would find a wireless speaker system that had that distance rating, which wont be too tough considering they are usually atleasts 150 foot range, for your pad to be used as a remote control you will need to download a remote control application from the app store. 2 that I found pretty cool are “I got control” app which is free , you will need to get an ir blaster that connects to your ipad for around 50 bucks( available at radio shack store or online, the other option is the “dijit” app which is also a free application, you will also need the adapter that hooks to your ipad, and for this app it is around 70 bucks, but it looks very cool and promises to be able to control almost any remote controlled device, I suggest downloading them both considering they are free and pick the one you like best before spending the money on any of the hardware that is required, unfortunately there is no way around getting additional hardware to make your ipad to work as a remote mainly because it does not send or receive infra red signal
