i have panasonic surround sound system 2 front 2 back 1 middle 1 sub woofer, i was wondering if it would work with xbox 360, i ahve to like hook it up to the dvd player and the tv i believe.

Just attach your xbox to the tv with whatever video cable you use. Then get an optical cable and run it straight from the xbox into your panasonic receiver. Go into the xbox set up menu and choose “bitstream” for it’s audio output. Turn off the tv’s sound. Choose the optical input on the receiver.

All cables are connected properly but no HDMI connection is noted when the test was ran.

i am not familiar with that sound system, but all sound systems are about the same. i know on my receiver, that the hdmi ports can either be assigned or even turned off if you are not using them. look through your owners manual, and any type of set up on the system itself, and i bet you will find what i am talking about. it’s very likely that the hdmi out on the sound system is turned off, but also check your tv menu as well, i know my tv you can also turn off any unused input.
