Question by mom of 6 girls: Should I buy a blu-ray Surround Sound system?
I am thinking of investing in a new surround sound system and wondering if instead of a DVD SS ,I should just invest in the Blu-ray SS.

The conventional DVD appears to be losing ground to Blu-ray. I would suggest going with the Blu-ray just for that reason alone.

The instructions are for multiple blu ray players not just the DMP-605, and it lists how to connect 7.1ch, 5.1ch and 2ch surround sound. We have a 5.1ch speaker setup, but it doesn’t show how to connect it. It only shows how to connect a different model blu ray player. Please tell if you have any information.

The instructions should be very similar for all blu-ray players, just hook up the HDMI cable and you’re done. Set the blu-ray to bitstream audio over HDMI, set your home theater system’s surround mode to auto, and everything should work fine.

I have a Panasonic HDTV and a Panasonic DVD player with Surround Sound system. The surround sound system works only when using the DVD player or when it is on.
I am interested in the LG BD630 Blu-ray Player but only if I can use the Surround Sound system in the same was I was before.

Only if your Panasonic sound system has optical input.
