Question by Stephy: how do you find ‘shorts’ in recievers in home surround sound systems?
my sourround sound system keeps cutting out, and i have read that possible reasons are because of over heating or shorts in the reciever or speaker wires. i just dont know what these look like. need someones help on this please.

The first and easiest thing to do is check behind the receiver and all the speakers and be sure all the wires are firmly attached to their inputs and that no wires are touching anywhere. Sometimes wires come loose or unravel and touch each other, fixing that will often solve the cutting out problem.
Then you need to check that your receiver has enough power to run your speakers. OHM rating of your speakers should match what the receiver can power. Info is usually in the receiver’s owner’s manual.
