I prefer towers in the front about 4-5 feet from the tv on either side. A center channel above or below my tv, bookshelf’s in the rear on stands and the sub in the rear corner.

In the case of satellites, I prefer my center on top of the tv but since the tv is placed high on the wall, below is better. Speakers should be as close to ear level as possible when sitting down. The front speakers shouldn’t be placed more than 5 feet away from the tv. Unless they’re pointed directly at you.

But experiment with them and find out what sounds and looks best.

Q&A: I hooked my TV (analogue and digital capable) to my surround system but get no sound on digital channels.?

Question by RockyComfort: I hooked my TV (analogue and digital capable) to my surround system but get no sound on digital channels.?
I’m confused here. I plugged my TV output into my surround system and the analogue channels sound works but the digital channels don’t. The digital channels come through the TV speaker, but not the sound system. Why would the analogue channels audio work with my external speakers but not my digital channels? It’s not a high-end surround system, but I’ve never had any problems with getting DVD players or VCRs to work, just the digital TV channels. Any suggestions?

You have to trace every audio and video source back to the playback system. You have to provide more info. You are DEFINATELY confused to the point that you can’t define what your inputs and outputs are. If the analog sources work, use that, period. What connectors are you using? That is the key to any interface. You have to define digital interfaces otherwise there is no way to answer your question.
