Question by mark j: Who makes a surround sound DVD system to store movies,music,pictures on hard disk. A computer for my lounge?
I want a smart looking system for my lounge but with the power of a computer. One box which I can put a DVD into but which also has a hard drive to store my pictures, DVDs, games, internet access etc. It must have integrated surround sound and must have remote control. It must look like a smart home DVD system not like a computer box. I can’t find this anywhere. All I can find is computers which look like computers and usually don’t have surroud sound. The DVD systems on the market have hard drives but do not opperate like a computer. In simple terms I want a computer that runs windows but looks like a smart home DVD system and has surround sound. I know the technology is there but I can’t find a manufacturer who makes it. Could you please give me a couple of manufaturers who make this type of product? Thanks.

They are called digital entertainment centers.
HP has one (it has 5.1 channel out, but no AVR functionality)
Sony has also one.
