Question by : How do i hook up a simple church sound system?
I have a Rolls RM 82 Mic/Line Mixer, a Rolls RA63b Distribution Amp, a dbx 131s Graphic Equalizer, a QSC OT-300a autoformer, a QSC GX5 amplifier, and a Tascam CC-222SLMKII recorder that need to be hooked up to 8 microphones and a 70 volt speaker system as well as an 8 ohm speaker – and I’m just a little lost. :(

Well the first thing I would do is to find a way to plug in your microphone to your soundcard for your computer. You need to capture the sound from the microphone.

Then I would invest in some audio software that will take that microphone sound and record it clean for you. Adobe has a couple of good programs that you can use to build your necessary MP3 files for a CD.

The key is your soundcard and its ability to handle the microphone. You will need to find a way to have the computer relatively close to plug in the microphone, or have the audio line run straight in from board that controls the microphones.

Good luck

This is a church that needs acoustical treatment to bolster congregational singing and enhance the experience for the performers on stage. The sound system performs quite well and will perform better after acoustical changes. The acoustic block on the walls are not enough or even the right kind of treatment for a church where singing and music is required.
