A friend of mine met a guy the other day who wants him to start a branch of a home security system business. The friend has no business experience at all and he only met the guy once for dinner. Their sending him down to Vegas to be trained to open the branch of the business. Apparently there is only one other office open. Does this sound possible?

No, it is a scam. My guess is he will be asked to invest money in this business. Your friend should NOT go to Vegas or pursue this. There is no way a reputable business would recruit a person after one meeting and with no business experience at that and suggest they open a branch of their business.
