Question by Yusuf: How to build a good home audio system?
I want to put a home audio system in my house. Please do not get confused with a home theater system, as I only want this system for music. I would want to have speakers in four rooms, but it’s all open plan. Also, I want to know what would be the best amp or receiver on the market. Money doesn’t matter.

“money doesn’t matter” Are you sure? Well, if you’re sure money doesn’t matter then start with this list of speakers… http://www.higherfi.com/spkrlist/speakerlist.htm Right at the top of the list, at just under $ 7,000,000.00 we have the Shape Audio “Organic Harmony”. For the four rooms you need four sets so a little under $ 28,000,000.00. Actually it’s $ 27,800,000.00 but you can probably get a discount buying four sets.
Still say money doesn’t matter??? Moving on to an amplifier isn’t so bad… http://www.higherfi.com/amplist/amplist.htm The top of the list here starts at only $ 650,000.00. Needing four, you’re still only looking at $ 2,600,000.
You’re barely over thirty million at this point and you only have a few components remaining, I know you said money doesn’t matter but we’re going to try to keep this thing under fifty million.
Now that you have a better understanding of what “money doesn’t matter” can lead to maybe you will want to update your question with something we can work with. There are people that think a $ 500 budget effectively means money doesn’t matter while others might think a $ 50,000 budget means money doesn’t matter. Truth is, you need to be more in the $ 50 Million range before you say money doesn’t matter.
It sounds to me like you need more of a distributed audio system than just a stereo. There are a number of ways to do this and since you stated that it is all open I assume you mean you will not be playing different material in one area than in another. In that case then four separate integrated amplifiers each with its own set of speakers is probably the best bet. You just tie them all together to a common source so you can play the same thing through all of them. The Sonos music system is a good way to do this and you can also tie that to a PC or network drive containing all your music and control it all with an iPhone or iPad. I don’t know if this is what you are looking for because there simply isn’t enough information in your question to determine exactly what you want.
You may want to go around to some local high end audio stores locally and talk to them. Face to face it will be easier for them to extract the information on exactly what your expectations are than can be assessed here on Yahoo answers.
